What is Antarctic Krill Oil?
Krill oil is extracted from krill, a type of small crustacean, specifically from the species Euphausia superba found in the Antarctic. Like fish oil, it is a source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), two types of omega-3 fatty acids found exclusively in marine sources and linked to various health benefits. Krill oil is also rich in astaxanthin (which gives it its red colour) and marine phospholipids. The presence of these key nutrients sets krill oil apart from standard fish oils.
One drawback of fish oil is its taste. Fortunately, krill oil provides all the same benefits without the harsh aftertaste. It is available in various supplement forms, including capsules, pills, liquid drops, softgels, gummies, tablets, and powders.
