What is Vitamin K2?
Vitamin K2 is an essential, fat-soluble nutrient our body needs for functions like healthy blood clotting. It comes in two forms:
- Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) found in natural leafy greens, vegetables, and some plant oils
- Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) found in dairy, fermented foods (such as natto), and animal products
How to get Vitamin K2:
On average, about 90% of the Vitamin K consumed in our diets is K1, therefore taking a food supplement ensures we reap the benefits of this essential vitamin. It is often given to newborn babies after birth due to it's important benefits. Vitamin K supplements come in many forms including softgel capsules, liquid sprays, oil drops, powder and gummies.
